Casa Cubista | One of a kind

Casa Cubista is a homeware brand which creates products using Portuguese artisans who are experts in their respective trades.  The company was founded by David Pimental and Arren Williams in the fishing port of Olhão, a bustling fishing port on Portugal's Algarve coast.

The idea was born purely out of a desire to share Portuguese design with the world. The name 'cubista' comes from the unusual whitewashed, tiled cubist style buildings found in the alleys of the old town.

David has Azorean roots and his family has a history of craft, from weaving and crocheting to baking and woodwork. David is very creative himself and actually creates several of the pieces in the Casa Cubista collection. Arren also has a creative background, having worked as a style and design journalist in Canada. Together the pair spent two years travelling around the Portuguese countryside meeting the wonderful artisans who they work with today.

Casa Cubista's ceramists have been perfecting their techniques for over 200 years.  In the family pottery workshop, each piece of pottery is shaped on the wheel by Rui before it is hand painted by his aunt Regina.

Their handwoven cushions are created with yarn spun from dozens of different colours of thread recycled from the fashion industry. Its modern design and soft texture make it a perfect decorative accents for a living room or a bedroom.

Due to their handmade nature, all of Casa Cubista's products have unique aspects and, as such, are one of a kind.  This is one of the many reasons why we have chosen to bring their exceptional products to accent your home.  We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
